Taylor, Wilson graduate from 16th MAR Leadership Academy

Annapolis, Md. – Brigit Taylor of ResortQuest Delaware and Joseph Wilson of Condominium Realty – both members of the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) – were among 22 graduates from the Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR) 16th Annual Leadership Academy honored at ceremonies held recently in Annapolis.
 
The MAR Leadership Academy was formed by REALTORS® who understand the important role they play in their community and the need to enhance the leadership skills, knowledge, and competencies of fellow REALTORS® interested in making a difference in their personal lives and in their communities.
 
CAR, one of 16 local REALTOR® associations in Maryland, is a strong advocate and recognizes the importance of this program to the association’s future.

Over 120 real estate professionals attend Coastal REALTORS® Technology Fair

Salisbury, Md. – The Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) held its inaugural 2016 Technology Fair on Thursday, April 21 at The Fountains Wedding & Conference Center.
 
   
The inaugural 2016 Coastal Association of REALTORS® Technology Fair was held on Thursday, April 21 at The Fountains Wedding & Conference Center in Salisbury. 
 
The event featured over 20 vendors and 17 workshops and training opportunities designed to help real estate professionals better serve their clients and be more successful. Over 120 real estate professionals, both locally and statewide, attended the event.

Coastal REALTORS® raises over $300, delivers supplies to Wicomico Humane Society

Salisbury, Md. – The Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) raised $335 at a charity corn hole tournament held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Hopper’s Tap House. The event was held to support the over 300 dogs recently rescued from a puppy mill situation and cared for by the Humane Society of Wicomico County.

Coastal REALTORS® sponsors Cornhole Tournament to benefit dogs

Salisbury, Md. – In addition to its efforts to collect supplies for the over 300 dogs recently surrendered in Wicomico County, the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) is partnering with its members and a new Salisbury eatery to hold the Cause for the Paws Charity Cornhole Tournament.
 
The event will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hopper’s Tap House, 1400 South Salisbury Boulevard. The cost to participate is $20 per team. Cash and checks will be accepted. Checks should be made out to “The Humane Society of Wicomico County.” Registration will be on-site.
 
The winning team will receive a $50 gift card to Hopper’s Tap House. Happy Hour prices will be extended through 9 p.m. for the event.

Local REALTORS® organize supply drive for neglected dogs

Lower Eastern Shore, Md. – In light of the 300 surrendered dogs now in the care of the Humane Society of Wicomico County, the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) is partnering with several of its member offices to collect donated supplies.
 
Donations may be taken to any of the listed drop-off locations through Thursday, April 21, 2016. CAR will collect donations and deliver them to the Humane Society.
 
“The situation in Wicomico County is heartbreaking and we want to help in any way that we can,” said CAR President Linda Moran. “We hope that establishing these drop off locations at various offices throughout the Tri-County area will make it more convenient for people who want to help.”

Increased contracts signal busy start to spring in local real estate market

Berlin, Md. – Increased contracts in all three counties on the Lower Eastern Shore reflect a busy start to the spring real estate market, according to the latest figures from the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR).
 
CAR’s local housing statistics for March 2016 showed an overall 14 percent increase in contracts, or pending sales, in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties, compared to the same time last year. Individually, single family home sales in Worcester County increased by 9 percent, increased by 18.3 percent in Wicomico County, and remained steady in Somerset County. Condominium contracts increased by 9.1 percent in Worcester County, by 175% in Wicomico County, and by 200% in Somerset County.
 
Settlements were largely down, compared to the same time last year, with the exception of a 16.7% increase in condominium settlements in Wicomico County.
