Jim Mathias; President Linda Moran; Director and Chair of the Government Affairs and RPAC Committees Joseph Wilson; Executive Vice President Page Browning; and Treasurer Terrence McGowan.

This annual event is an opportunity for REALTOR® and affiliate members to meet with their individual state senators and delegates to discuss real estate and homeowner issues. CAR was one of 16 REALTOR® associations from across the state to meet with their legislators and discuss issues and bills that impact Maryland’s real estate industry.

Prior to meeting with their legislators, Legislative Day participants were addressed by Maryland Senate President Mike Miller and Kelly Schultz, secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Brief meetings then occurred in individual legislators’ Annapolis offices, during the 436th session of the Maryland Legislature. REALTORS® particularly stressed support for agency law changes, service provider referral regulation relief, implementation of private water and sewer fee disclosures, and tax-free homebuyer accounts, among others.

CAR met with Sen. Jim Mathias and Dels. Chris Adams, Carl Anderton, Mary Beth Carozza, and Charles Otto. Members from the Mid-Shore Board of REALTORS® met with Sen. Adelaide Eckardt and Dels. Sheree Sample-Hughes and Johnny Mautz.

“No one knows better than us what’s happening in the Eastern Shore’s real estate market, so it’s critically important that we participate in this event and make our voices heard in Annapolis,” said Linda Moran, 2016 CAR President. “We’re grateful to MAR for organizing these very positive meetings, to our members who participated, and to our elected officials who took time out of their extremely busy schedules to chat with us.”
