CAR raises over $2,000 for Chefs for Habitat

Salisbury, Md. – To support President Don Bailey’s Celebrity Builder Campaign, the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) raised over $2,000 to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County’s annual Chefs for Habitat event.

Activity picks up in the new year

Lower Eastern Shore, Md. – The local real estate market kicked off the new year with a slight bump in inventory and a healthy boost in contract starts, according to the latest figures from the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR).
January 2017 saw a one percent increase in new local listings compared to the same time last year in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties. Individually, Worcester single family home listings increased by 14.1 percent, Wicomico decreased by 10.6 percent, and Somerset decreased by 12.5 percent.
New contract starts, or pending sales, increased overall by 23 percent compared to the same time last year. Individually, Worcester single family home contract starts increased by 3.1 percent, Wicomico increased by 37.1 percent, and Somerset remained steady. Worcester condominium contract starts also saw a boost of 25.8 percent.

Riley is winner of Coastal REALTORS® blood drive giveaway

Berlin, Md. – Terry Riley, a REALTOR® with Vantage Resort Realty in Ocean City, was the winner of a drawing sponsored by the Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) for members who donated blood at this year’s OC Cares Blood Drive.
CAR Education & Communication Coordinator Marie McFarland presents local REALTOR® Terry Riley with a certificate for free Continuing Education.
Riley won 10.5 hours of required Continuing Education (CE), valued at over $100. The classes Riley will be able to complete at no cost are Legal Update; Fair Housing; Ethics, Predatory Lending & Flipping; and MDREC Agency. These classes are offered at the CAR Training Center in Berlin.
