Shields served on the Salisbury City Council for over 10 years and was a tireless advocate for affordable housing and homeownership. She supported a number of key initiatives that greatly benefitted the city, including the city’s flood study, repairs on Isabella Street, and cleanup of the Coty Cox River, among others.
“Shanie is smart, knowledgeable, and personable, and she has an extensive history in Salisbury and in Wicomico County,” said Coastal President Joel Maher. “She’s always been supportive of our efforts to boost homeownership and she understands the importance of building and sustaining a county where people want to live, work, and raise their children. She knows the people and she gets the issues. She is a perfect candidate for County Council.”
